CEMETERY

Spring is here.  It is time to make our cemetery clean and presentable. When upkeeping the graves of your beloved departed, please be mindful and throw any organic garbage (dirt, flowers, etc.) over the embankment, not in the trash containers.  Also, please try to take as much non-organic garbage back home with you for disposal, even if left by others.

MAY AND JUNE DEVOTIONS

The envelopes for “May and June Devotions” are coming up.

Write the names of the LIVING that you would like to pray for throughout the two months of devotions during molebens.

GRAVE BLESSINGS

On Monday, May 25th  Father Teodor will be at our cemetery at 10 am. Parastas service will be celebrated for commemorating all the deceased buried in the parish cemetery.  Following the Parastas, graves will be blessed with Holy Water. 

If you have a son or daughter who will be graduating from graduate, college, or high school this year, kindly send an e-mail to: shucc@stny.rr.com with the relevant information.  Thank you.

The Preservation Association of the Southern Tier (PAST) is co-sponsoring with The New York Landmarks Conservancy a Sacred Sites Open House on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at various times between 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Sites are open at various intervals throughout the day. Please take notice of opening and closing times to plan your visits. This state wide event is Free and Open to the Public.  To obtain a listing of the twenty-six Sacred Sites open in the Southern Tier, Binghamton, Johnson City, Port Dickinson, Hillcrest, and Endicott, go to www. pastny.org or www.nylandmarks.org , local libraries, history centers, religious sites and social media. The theme this year is:

Tropar Resurrectional Tone 6:  Angelic powers were upon Your tomb and the guards became like dead men; Mary stood before Your tomb seeking Your most pure body. You captured Hades without being overcome by it. You met the Virgin and granted life. O Lord, risen from the dead, glory be to You!

Tropar of the Ascension Tone 4:  You ascended in Glory, O Christ our God, giving joy to Your disciples by the promise of the Holy Spirit, and assuring them through Your blessing that You are the Son of God, the Redeemer of the world.

Tropar of the Holy Fathers Tone 8:  Christ our God, You are glorified above all, You established out fathers as beacons on earth and through them guided all of us to the true faith. Glory to You, most compassionate Lord.

Kondak of the Holy Fathers Tone 8:  The apostles’ preaching and the Fathers’ doctrine confirmed the Church’s faith, and wearing the garment of truth woven from theology that descends from on high, she rightly imparts the mystery of godliness and sings its glory.

Kondak of the Ascension Tone 6:  When You had fulfilled Your plan for us and united things on earth with those in heaven, You were taken up in glory, O Christ our God, in no way distant, but remaining inseparable, You cried to those who love You:  I am with You and there is none against you.

Prokimen of the Holy Fathers Tone 4: Blessed are You, Lord God of our fathers, and praised and glorified is Your name for ever. (Dan 3)

            Verse:  For You are righteous in everything that you have done to us.
