ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE
This year 2026, on behalf of “Ukrainian American community in Binghamton, NY”; our UCCA Binghamton branch gratefully accepted the invitation from the Hibernian Parade Committee of Broome to participate in the 2026 St. Patrick parade which will be held on Saturday March 7, 2026. Staging time is 12:30pm; parade starts at 1:30pm. Our group is assigned to the same space as last year between the Binghamton Stadium and Stadium parking.
Let’s remind our friends to “Stand With Ukraine”. St Patrick parade provides this opportunity. “Let’s get together in the St Patrick parade in Binghamton NY on March 7 to show that we “Stand With Ukraine”. Your participation is important. У другу неділю Великого Посту Церква святкує пам’ять святителя СВ. ГРИГОРІЯ ПАЛАМИ. Основним джерелом відомостей про життя святителя є «Похвальне слово св. Григорію», написане його другом і учнем Філофеєм Коккіним (1304 — 1355, 1362 — 1376), патріархом Константино-польським. Це «Похвальне слово» засноване на офіційному документі, який був складений в результаті розпочатого за дорученням Константинопольського патріарха Каліста I в 1363 році розслідування. Святитель Григорій Палама написав численні твори богословського, полемічного, аскетичного і морального змісту, численні гомілії і послання.
The scion of a noble Anatolian family, ST. GREGORY PALAMAS was born, probably at Constantinople, c. 1296. After his father's death, he became a monk, as did several members of his family. He entered a monastery on Mt. Athos and followed the rule of St. Basil. He lived on Athos in solitude for most of the following twenty years. In the 1330's, he began to defend the practice of hesychasm against the attacks of people like Barlaam of Calabria, who denied, among other things, that the light of Tabor which hesychasts experience is the uncreated light. Athough the 1341 council of Constantinople upheld Gregory's teachings about theosis, he was excommunicated in 1344. Three years later, he was consecrated bishop of Thessaloniki. Because hesychasm had come to have political as well as theological associations, the choice was not popular, and he entered his see with the aid of the Byzantine emperor. The Turks captured Gregory in 1354 and kept him captive for a year. He died in 1359. Gregory believes that although God is ultimately unknowable, man can experience his energies through the sacraments and mystical experience, which are possible because of the Incarnation of Christ. The practice of the Jesus prayer opens one to God's energies.

Tropar resurrectional tone 5: Let us the faithful acclaim and worship the Word, co-eternal with the Father and the Spirit, and born of the Virgin for our salvation. For He willed to be lifted up on the cross in the flesh, to suffer death and to raise the dead by His glorious resurrection.
Glory be to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit;
Kondak of the Great Fast: The time for action is now revealed; the Judge is at the door. Let us rise then and keep the fast, offering tears of contrition with alms and crying aloud: Our sins are more numerous than the sands of the sea, but forgive us, O Maker of all, that we may receive incorruptible crowns.
Now and forever and ever. Amen
Theotokon: By your birth, O Immaculate One, Joachim and Anna were freed from the reproach of childlessness, and Adam and Eve from the corruption of death. And your people, redeemed from the guilt of their sins, celebrate as they cry out to you: "The barren one gives birth to the Mother of God and nourisher of our Life."
